I did make it back… to a dark house.
We finally have power and internet back in our house. It had been out since last Sunday afternoon. It was off for a whole week thanks to weather Hurricane Ike surprisingly brought all the way up to Ohio. At the peak of the power outage, about 1.5 million Ohioans were in the dark.
But the power is back on and I’m back with our Suburban.
I’ll post a more comprehensive update about my epic drive from Las Vegas, NV, to Ohio a little later. We’re about to clean out our fridge and freezer… Yuck!

Bummer that your power was out so long. We were in the dark for about 2 days - felt like it was so much longer, lol. However, I fired up the camper’s propane fridge as soon as we lost power and we stayed in there until we had power back. It’s nice to be able to have somewhere to stay that can be independent of the ‘grid’.

Hi Aaron,
Regarding you to do list. I was wondering why you were not going to run the windows programs on your new mac since leopard comes with the free program to do so. Also what about the touch screen garmin GPS for under $300? Or the iphone has live GPS too.

I like to separate my computers to certain tasks. I really don’t like the idea of having my $2,700 MacBook Pro bouncing around in the cab doing the “menial” task of GPS navigation. I’m just more comfortable with it being in a case and protected while on the road since it is our primary source of income. I’d rather spend a few hundred bucks on an Eee PC or something similar.
We have a TomTom right now, and I love it. I like Delorme Maps because it tracks where you drive, and generates a lot more of the geeky stats I like.
