We won’t be homeless.
So I was surprised to receive an anonymous comment earlier today that chastised me for wanting to make our kids “homeless.” This struck me as odd because the only place I’ve mentioned this site is full-time RV forums. Which means there’s someone trolling full-time family RV’ing forums who is against full-time family RV’ing. Go figure.
Anyway, to be clear:
We won’t be homeless. We will live in a home that we have the joy of being able to move anywhere we want to. If our daughters have a science project on sedimentary layers, we can move to the Grand Canyon and go see some great sedimentary layers. If they have to learn about alligators, we can move near the Everglades and go on an airboat to observe them in the wild. Or if they want to have their birthday pary on houseboat, we can move near the Mississippi River and live there for a while.
If this person believes that everyone needs to settle don and buy a house, fine. But that’s not our American Dream.

Hi there! I got your URL from FOTR group and have to say that the comment someone made to you about being homeless goes further than attacking just you. It attacked all Full Time RV families. It sounds to me like someone is very jealous at our choice and wishes that they could make the choice to be living in an RV. I don’t think that person has ever been homeless to know the difference. I have been though. When I was 17 years old, I was homeless (living in a Park literally) for 3 months. It was nothing as kind as living in an RV. At least now I can be sheltered from the rain, wind, snow, and sun. I can take a shower or a bath any time I please. I can cook in my “home” and keep a months stock of food with me at all times. I don’t have to go potty in the bushes, as I have a toilet. I have a television, a computer, free internet, a bed (three actually) and a scene that changes any time I wish it to. Yes … homeless living is NOTHING like RV living. I think the attacker needs to get their facts straight.
I applaud you for your decision. Our choice come about after we were flooded and lost our home and everything within. We decided to never go through that heartache again because the worst feeling in the world is watching all of your things get destroyed and you can’t do a thing about it. We could drive away, or anything! But now, we can and we will! Aside from that, we love what we do and where we go. My kids wouldn’t trade it for the world and they have lived in a home. They say this is far better than a house because our home is always with us when we travel. Always. So happy traveling and ignore all those jealous people out there. ☺
